Minneapolis
March 17, 6:30 PM - St. Patrick's Day Parade
The parade starts at Nicollet Mall (Nicollet and 13th Street) and travels to Fifth Street. It originated in 1969, when Duff's and Bradford's held a short caravan between the two pubs, in response to friendly ethnic jibing. The first parade consisted of one float, from the Sons and Daughters of Ireland, and ended with some Minnesota Vikings football team members riding motorcycles into Duff's. (Note: Public drinking is forbidden by local ordinances.)
